Many people might not know that narrow gaps and odd nooks can be transformed into functional DVD storage ideas. While renovating, it is advisable to combine practicalities and aesthetics with sole storage ideas.
Drawers: Drawers, despite of being a hidden feature, can make superb storage nooks. They could be installed: in steps or under chairs, where there is often wastage of space, or beneath the bed. The second option would prove to be more advantageous as the drawers can be pulled out and everything can be seen at one glance. The other places where drawers can be fixed are bench seating, long wall benches, beneath platforms for luggage or posters, and dining tables.
Cabinets: Wall cabinets (full height) can prove to be an excellent hidden storage. If done in a proper way, the doors can serve as interesting 'feature walls'. However, it should be noted that this bulk would result in reduction of overall space. The overdoing would give a feeling of over crowdedness. Their installation can be done: at entrance, wherein a not-so-deep cabinet would suffice for outdoor stuff which needs to be hidden from kids, sports gear, and shoes, in living area, and kitchen. Another option would be turning cabinets into eye-catching murals by the way of cladding of doors in laminates or fabrics. The room can become soundproof by going for fabric upholstery.
In-between Spaces: Gaps, between the bed or wall and a closet are unavoidable. However, with proper built-in designs, gaps, even underneath a window can be easily streamlined and converted into a useful storage, either open or hidden with shelving. Their installation can be done: in kitchen, between the cabinets for chopping boards, huge trays, etc, in bedroom or bathroom by creating slots for DVDs, and also in the form of an additional table anywhere. Shallow tables hung by the wall can serve to be immediate worktables.
