If you are having acne, you would want to get rid of it. Afterall, an attractive outward experience is something that we all hope to have. However, you may be surrounded by certain popular myths and misconceptions. These can prevent you from getting the acne solution that you are looking for.

Here are some of the myths:

* Acne solution comes from cleaning your face. You may be advised by your mum or friends to wash your face often. You are told that the more you clean your skin, the more your acne will clear. This is further than the truth. The truth is that acne is caused by oil in your skin, not by the dirt on your face. On the contrary, cleaning your face more than two to three times a day may actually
worsen your acne condition, with an overly dry skin.

* Stress causes breakouts. Research has shown that breakouts are not caused by stressful situations but can be triggered by them. If you experience acne problems before a big or stressful event, observe what you do with your hands. Leaning on your dirty hands on your face can cause a breakout, something you may do in times of stress.

* Acne will clear up on its own. Most people are under the false impression that acne only afflicts teenagers; however everyone from babies to women in their 40’s can experience acne. Instead of doing nothing, you should get it treated.

* You can use make-up to help cover up your acne. Never do that! This is especially if you use make-up that is not formulated for problem skin. Just like food, different ingredients in make up can cause a reaction and result in a more severe breakout.

* Your acne solution should include popping pimples. In fact, you should never ever pop a zit. Popping a zit can introduce infection, increase the likelihood of scarring, and slow down healing. If you must try to speed up healing, spread the base of the zit apart instead of squeezing it. This opens up the pore allowing it to heal.

* A tan helps clear up acne. While a tan may make your acne less visible, it will do nothing to clear up a breakout. In fact, regular tanning can make your skin age faster. You may even get skin cancer.

Once you get the facts about acne right, then you will find it easier to be on the way to an acne solution. You need to have the right information to improve the health of your skin!
