What are sedu hair styles and why are they so popular?

About the Author

Perriann Rodriguez
Perriann Rodriguez is the founder of Hair Resources, Hairstyles gallery and Hair extensions , online resources for hundreds of hair styles, hair extensions info, beauty,

As the editor for Hair Resources, I visit many beauty and hair related websites. Over the last year I have noticed a growing popularity of the search term Sedu Hair Styles and even more popularity of the Sedu Flat Irons.

So, I began a mission to find out exactly what Sedu hair styles are and why it is such a popular search term on the Internet. After all, the word 'sedu' isn't even in the dictionary!!

So, I began to check out this growing trend to see what Sedu Hair Styles are all about. It turns out that Sedu hair styles comes from a company called Sedu Beauty. The company has developed a more effective ceramic flat iron that is supposed to reduce your styling time and maintain a healthy hair situation.

The original mission statement of the company Sedu Beauty, established in 1991, is to transform every Nonhairless female species on the planet into a Seductive beauty, Sedu for short. Many men have also used the flat irons to create smooth styles as well.

By using their flat iron, women and men can straighten their hair in about half the time as other competitive flat irons on the market. The flat irons by Sedu are rated the best by consumers and are mentioned as being preferred by top hair stylists around the world. Okay, this has definitely got my attention now!

I went to the company website, over at www.sedubeauty.com and saw many pictures of before and after using the Sedu Flat Iron. The after pictures all showed silky smooth and noticeably shiny straight hair, as opposed to the before pictures that showed very curly, frizzy or downright unmanageable looking hair.

I do have to admit that I was a little skeptical after seeing the photos. I kept looking on the website for the little disclaimer that says ‘Results not typical….etc.’ that you always find in weight loss advertisements. But no such disclaimer can be found.

For review purposes, I ordered a 1-1/2 inch Sedu Ionic Flat Iron from one of the authorized sellers listed on the company website. The package arrived late one afternoon, just before I had to go pick up my daughters from school. I had only about 10 minutes to spare before I had to leave, but I was really anxious to try out this flat iron.

Here is an account of what happened next. My hair was freshly washed and dried, so I just put a small amount of Biosilk Silk Therapy that the company recommends you use before flat ironing. My hair is very thick and about shoulder length. I actually have to clip up most of my hair and start flat ironing from the bottom layer. With my old flat iron, it usually takes a good 15 minutes to iron my hair, with not all that great results.

Time Line:
3:10 p.m. I plug in the Sedu Ionic Flat Iron; put it on the hottest temperature

3:10 p.m. and 25 seconds later. The green light is blinking indicating that the iron is ready to use. I start with the bottom layer, gradually letting more hair down until I have run the flat iron over all my hair. With this iron you only have to pass it one time over your hair. With my old iron I had to run it thru several times to get good results. P.S. You definitely don’t want to touch your hair after running the flat iron over it. It is VERY HOT.

3:18 p.m. I’m done!!!!

My hair looks absolutely awesome. It is smooth and silky, just like in the pictures. And, it actually stayed that way for almost two whole days before I washed it again. Several people asked me the first day and the next day if I got my hair cut or just went to the salon.

Important factors to consider when flat ironing your hair on a regular or daily basis is the wear and tear it will produce on your hair, perhaps causing split ends or even damaging your hair. If you visit many hair related forums, damaged hair from flat ironing is a frequent topic.

Dennis Huang, the brand manager for the Sedu line, says that the Sedu Flat irons are made from Tourmaline, a precious stone. This stone was used because it generates up to 6 times more negative ions upon heating than traditional ceramic irons. The extra negative ions along with gentle far-infrared heat guarantee soft, smooth, frizz-free silky straight hair without heat damage. Also, Sedu’s patented ultra-smooth plates guarantee smooth straightening motion without pulling, snagging or breaking the hair.

Huang mentions that many flat irons on the market have very rough surfaces on the plates. He adds, “Most irons cause hair damage because essentially you are straightening your hair with a heated sand paper.”

Many hair stylists recommend using some sort of silicone based product on the hair before flat ironing in order to protect the hair. Sedu Beauty recommends Biosilk Silk Therapy and Sedu Heat Protectant. They also recommend using lower heat settings for different types of hair. If you have bleached, fragile, damaged or fine hair—use the lower temperature setting. If you have normal hair and use the iron regularly, use the middle range of temperatures and if you have coarse, thick, ethnic or resistant hair that is in a healthy condition you can use the maximum heat for best results.

In short, my conclusion, 8 minutes and a Sedu Ionic Flat Iron has made a huge difference in the way my hair looks and feels. It is THUMBS UP for Sedu Flat Irons from Hair Resources.

Now all I need is a weight loss product that works in 8 minutes

Even though I test many things for my own site I don't think I am brave enough to test a flat iron of any type on my hair.
But after reading this I might take that chance after all. I have baby fine blonde hair but its straight.
I am still trying to find out what is so good about flat irons? Are they for those who have thick, curly hair only?
I guess I better drop over at hairResources.com see if I can find out more about the world of flat irons.

ON that weight loss product that takes weight off that fast, Oh please let me know if you find it!!!

I do love this flat iron. It is great. My hair used to get very frizzy in bad weather and I would have to wear it in a ponytail all summer long, but now, I don't even think twice about going out in the rain with my hair down. It's great!

I have the sedu flat iron and I hate it. It cost me more than the Chi flat iron and doesn't work half as well. I bought mine from some website called folica.com and I was wondering why they advertised it so much but I found out that the MANUFACTURE it which is why they push it so much. It's really deceiving when you think about it. Also, the whole rumor Jennifer Aniston uses it, its such a lie. Her hairstylist, Chris McMahon does articles for Allure Magazine and he said he uses the T3 Tourmaline flat iron, NOT the sedu flat iron.

First, let me say that Sedu is the most deceiving company out there today. The reason it has such "rave reviews" is because these reviews are posted on folica.com and folica.com is the manufacturer for the sedu flat iron. You can figure this out by simply going to both websites and looking at their contact info. This is the reason why folica.com pushes the sedu flat iron so much.

Second, the sedu flat iron is not worth the money. It is your basic made-in-china flat iron. Expensive flat irons are made in Korea (better heating, quality overall) so bottom line, this flat iron will break on you within a year max.

Third, the "as seen in allure" is a joke. They PAID for some small advertisement in the back of Allure magazine!! It was NEVER featured in Allure! (this one makes me laugh). They try to deceive customers by making them think Allure actually thought it was a good product, in which it has never been featured in the actual editorials of Allure.

Fourth, there are rumors the sedu ceramic flat iron is used by Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Lopez. This is simply not true. Jennifer Aniston's hairstylist does regular editorials for Allure magazine and he said he only uses the T3 Tourmaline Flat Iron.

The sedu flat iron is a joke and is NOT used by any top professionals or stylists. They are just trying to deceive you to buy their products. It's really sad when you see it from a bigger picture that Sedu is trying to link itself with a celebrity who doesn't even use their product!

so, if the best irons are from Korea, who manufacturers them?>

the sedu IS made in Korea.
it says it right on the box.

Sedu has to be the most deceiving company on the internet today. The only reason the Sedu Flat Iron has such "outstanding rave reviews" is because these reviews are posted on Folica.com and Folica.com is the manufacturer of the sedu flat iron. You can figure this out by simply going to both websites and looking at their contact info. This is the reason why Folica.com pushes the Sedu flat iron so much.

The Sedu Flat Iron is not worth the money. It is a basic made in Korea flat iron. This flat iron will break on you within a year max... it's total junk.

The as seen in "allure" is also a joke. Folica.com or it's alias Sedu Beauty PAID for some small advertisement in the back of Allure magazine! It has NEVER been featured in Allure! (this one alone makes me laugh...its such a scam). They are trying to deceive customers by making them think Allure actually thought it was a good product but it has never been featured in the actual editorials of Allure, just a paid tiny ad in the back that you can barely find. They didn't even buy a real ad and they are blasting as seen in!!

There are rumors the Sedu Flat Iron is used by Jennifer Aniston and Jennifer Lopez. This is simply a down right fabrication by the people at Sedu/Folica.com. Jennifer Aniston's hairstylist has done regular editorials for Allure magazine for some time and he has said that he only uses the T3 Tourmaline Flat Iron on her hair. I can't find any reference ANYWHERE that ties Jennifer Lopez to the Sedu Flat Iron. Not only that, I've asked dozens of hair stylists if they have ever heard of Sedu Flat Irons and I have yet to find any that have. If it's the number one flat iron how come no one has ever heard of it outside of Folica.com... in fact who has even heard of Folica.com.

The Sedu flat iron is a joke and is NOT used by any top professionals or stylists. Folica.com is just trying to deceive you to buy their products. It's really a shame that when you see it from a bigger picture that Sedu is trying to link itself with a celebrity who doesn't even use their product. When I learn a company has to lie to get people to buy there product I tend to run as fast as possible before I become just another sucker. Do Not Buy This Flat Iron ... it's not worth the money and any company that lies to you to get you to buy it should be out of business.

Your better off buying a bottle of snake oil.

My hair is (was) in healthy condition, not even colored treated, and I never had any problems with hair breakage. However, since using the Sedu Revolution, my hair has been breaking off tremendously, especially after using the iron. I use the iron on the lowest setting and I also use one of the best heat protectants available before ironing and it makes no difference because most because of my hair breaks right off during and after its use. When I used to use my old cheap iron from the grocery store my hair didn't break off. I thought this would be a better investment but it is most definitely is not, so I'm very disappointment. Since using the Sedu, I have a lot less hair. I really wanted to like this iron but I cannot.
I tried to return it to folica and emailed them but I received no response from them. Folica has POOR customer service. Folica manufactures the Sedu which is why it is marketed so heavily on their website. Sedu's marketing is misleading as it is just a cheesy paid ad in Allure magazine and not a product chosen by Allure. It also explains why several of the "reviewers" put down other brands of flat irons on folica (chi, solia, hai, etc.) stating how much better the Sedu is, which it is not. I wonder how may "reviewers" will bash my truthful review in defense of their beloved Sedu if it even gets posted by the moderators. I have also read that Folica gives members a $5 store credit for a positive review. I give this product and folica a -5 score.
I really hope to help others not fall in the same predicament that I am in because now I'm out of $140.
