Losing weight doesn't have to be difficult. The key is to approach weight loss with a common sense attitude. Anyone I've talked to who has experienced successful weight loss has told me that losing weight is all about believing that you can do it and following some basic common sense guidelines.
Some people I know have had great weight loss success by keeping a list of all the foods they eat. The theory behind this is that if you know when you're bingeing or which particular food or foods are your downfall, you know what you need to be mindful of.
Others ask themselves the following question before putting any food in their mouth. Am I really hungry or am I simply angry, lonely, bored or tired?
Everyone I spoke with also agreed on the importance of maintaing a schedule. Instead of random snacking, only eat at designated times.
That said, never starve yourself. Skipping meals can be hazardous to your waist line as it often causes us to overeat later.
I've always believed in drinking a glass of water before every meal. It helps me control the amount of food I eat by filling me up faster so I don't overindulge at the dinner table.
Having the encouragement of a friend or relative is also very helpful.
Last but not least, eat a little of what you crave. I've alway felt it's better to have a little of something you really desire than filling yourself up with foods that don't really satisfy your craving.
