A deficiency in essential vitamins and supplements can mean that your body does not get the required nutrition for skin renewal, tissue repair and for its organs to naturally detoxify. Your chance of getting acne skin as well as skin blemishes increases when you do not take care of it.
You are likely to be deficient in certain vitamins and minerals especially if your normal meals consist of fast food and fries. In fact, studies show that fewer than 32 percent of Americans eat the required servings of vegetables each day. Also, a typical American diet is comprised of excessive amounts of processed sugar and not enough fruits and water.
Vitamin A strengthens the protective tissue of your skin and is essential as an acne remedy. It reduces sebum production and helps to repair the tissue that skin and mucous membranes are made of. Vitamin A is also a powerful antioxidant. Antioxidants are important and needed to help rid your body of toxins that have built up. In fact, it is said that a lack in Vitamin A can cause acne!
The Complex B vitamins are also helpful in preserving healthy skin through the relief of stress. Stress is the single most important trigger for several diseases and illnesses, including acne. The B vitamins should always be taken together. They include thiamine, riboflavin, niacinamide, pantothenic acid and pyridoxine.
Thiamine is an antioxidant, helps circulation, and aids in digestion. Riboflavin works with Vitamin A and is essential for healthy skin, hair, and nails. Niacinamide speeds up the metabolism of carbohydrates in your system and improving circulation. A niacinamide deficiency can cause acne. Pantothenic Acid or B5 is popular for helping to reduce stress and is needed for the adrenal glands to function properly. Vitamin B6, or Pyridoxine is important for the correct function of your immune system and antibody production.
Vitamin C with biofavonoids is often known as the “super vitamin" which can help in your acne remedy. Vitamin C is instrumental in at least 300 metabolic functions in your body, including tissue growth and repair and helps to flush toxins from your body. Vitamin C also improves immunity and protects against infection. If you have diabetes, you would need to check with your doctor for the dosage that is most appropriate for your body.
Chromium, more widely used for weight loss, can also act as an acne remedy. It helps fight pimples. Chromium should be taken in an added form since chromium in foods is not easily absorbed. In most foods, much of it is lost in processing.
Zinc aids in acne remedy by regulating the activity of the oil glands. It promotes tissue healing and prevents scarring from your acne.
Notice that many skin products come with Vitamin E as an ingredient? Well, Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant for the skin. It promotes healing and tissue repair and prevents cell damage by inhibiting oxidation of fats and the formation of free radicals.
It should be noted that taking too much of a vitamin or mineral can also be toxic and dangerous. Vitamins and supplements are best taken from a normal balanced diet. Only when you are deficient such as when acne problems show up, that you may wish to take a supplement. Also, it is best to stick to the recommended dosage unless your doctor advise you otherwise.
With enough vitamins for your body, you are assured of adequate nutrition. Give the necessary fuel for your body organs, cells and tissues to perform optimally and reap the benefits of beautiful acne free skin.
