I guess tomorrow has finally come. Keeping your weight loss plans in check require planning and motivation. Even if you have failed miserably over the holidays, you can still start your diet fresh today.
After reading about all the people that have lost hundreds of pounds on this or that diet in People magazine, and others, I feel inspired to go back to my diet plan.
Monday is as good a day as any to start. I will start by having 400 calorie meals, spaced 3-4 hours apart--much like is recommended on the flat belly diet. The difference is....
I don't really have the budget to purchase a lot of the items on the flat belly diet--especially the mono-unsaturated fats. I really enjoy eating pistaccios, but they are very expensive--as are other nuts and seeds.
This morning was slow-moving for me. But I made it through. My breakfast consisted of about 350 calories and probably a cup too many of coffee. I will start drinking my ice water soon and follow it with some hot tea. The ice water really makes me cold, especially on really cold days like today.
Going back to counting calories is a hard, but necessary task. If you really pay attention to the calories in everything you eat, you will be more likely to reach your weight loss goals. There are some things that have an incredible amount of calories--like Chex mix, that I never realized. Buying those individual snack sizes really does help with cutting calories for that. Normally I would just grab the whole bag and start eating. Who knows how many calories I would end up having.
I do believe that if you have 400 calorie meals every 3-4 hours that you will be well-nourished and not at the point of starvation. But it does take about a week to really get used to the different eating pattersn.
