Quit Smoking Tips: Understanding withdrawal symptoms are a sign of recovery

Quit Smoking Tips: Understanding withdrawal symptoms are a sign of recovery

One of the worst things about your efforts to quit smoking is the withdrawal symptoms you have to cope with. Your withdrawal symptoms coupled with the lack of comfort from the routine of an old habit can be a real challenge.

Because of the challenge you are about to experience or are currently experiencing, it is important to revisit the reasons why you decided to quit smoking in the first place and understand that the withdrawal symptoms you are experiencing are not only natural but an important sign that your body is recovering as it should.

Every time you experience a withdrawal symptom, it is a sign that your body is learning to cope without nicotine and the other poisons in it. While this knowledge won’t lessen your symptoms it may help you understand they are an important step in kicking your smoking habit once and for all.

Sometimes it helps to write down why you have decided to quit. By taking the time to write down all your reasons to quit smoking you will always have a reminder close at hand for those times when you are finding your withdrawal symptoms extremely challenging to cope with.

Once you have your main reasons written down be sure to carry them with you at all times. Whenever you are tempted to have a cigarette pull out your list and remind yourself. Additionally some people find it beneficial to re-write their list every few days to keep their reasons for quitting smoking top of mind.
