Nutrition is a basic pe-requisite to sustain life. It starts right from womb and follows till tomb. Eating is one of the most basic and important thing we do in life right from the day we are born. Healthy nutrition and good eating habits must be a part of a family.

Nutrition in a persons life depends on various factors like age, surroundings, eating habits, religion, gender, etc. One should ensure to have a balanced diet irrespective of all the above factors and should ensure to have a balanced meal to get the required nutrition as per the RDA.

A balanced diet includes the basic five food groups like cereals, pulses, fruits, milk and fat. Water not being included in the food group is essential and should be a part of a healthy eating pattern.

A balanced nutrition helps in avoiding over-nutrition, mal-nutrition, psycho-social problems and medical illness. Always select the right type of food, with plenty of grain products, vegetables, nuts and fruits. Be moderate with meat and fish products and be liberal with water. It is better to restrict ready made and processed food as they have high content of saturated fats and preservatives.

A healthy diet means, having a proper equation on food. The morning breakfast is the most important part of a persons daily diet. Remember the Golden rule.."Breakfast like a king". Morning breakfast helps you run through your entire day without getting tired. Never skip breakfast.

Then comes the lunch... have it like a rich man. Variety of food covering all the basic food groups. Dinner! oh yes.. be a poor man here. Allow your digestive system to take rest. This in turn will allow you to sleep properly.

A sound sleep is essential for the next days work. Hence, be low on dinner and allow your digestive system to take rest and have a sound sleep.
