Bizarre headline eh? Triggered by comments Ive heard in the past, but mainly work I'm doing at present. Please note that I'm paraphrasing the actual content
Me: Hey Mr Marketing Guru, whats all this about Time Management? I mean does it just mean I organize my time efficiently, don't fool around and move towards my goals and visions?
Guru:No my son, it means you Get It Done.
Me: But I was up at 6, shivering, aching, headache, feel like death warmed up, can't concentrate?'
Guru:Get It Done, my son. You have objectives. Rest assured if working when you are ill, makes you seriously ill.. it will also somehow, inevitably make you a better tougher marketer. Mentally. Get It Done. Whatever it takes out of you. And your family and friends.
Me: But what about emergencies, other chores. What about the breaks I should be taking as part of my Healthy Computing?
Guru: Breaks???? Get It Done!!!! You have definite tasks in your 'To Do' folder. They must be completed. They will take concentrated effort if you are to finish them by your Official Daily Finishing Time at 3 p.m. Then refresh your eyes, carry out flexing exercises, and wallow in Healthy Computing practices till the sun goes down if you must.
Remember you have a free day once a month when you can do as you please. If you have Got It Done - All Of It. And do all that fancy arranging of screen supports , keyboard rests, good chair, proper lighting and ventilation... arrgh, theres no monetization in this. My brain hurts!
Me: Pardon me oh Great One, but when I had a miserable horrible J.O.B, I could call in sick, I got weekend free mostly - Im doing good on the Internet, why shouldnt I take care of myself. Why not take time, not work when its agony?
Guru: Because My son, to a workaholic, $1,000,000 a year is good, $2,000,000 a year better - forever. You see, the mere fact you are apparently comfortably off cannot excuse you from joining in an accelerating macho work ethic geared to geek keyboard-hours, endless competition with aspiring wannabees, and hysterical hunting for every last possible conceivable dime left on the table...Healthy Computing Wastes Time! Healthy Computing does NOT get Targetted Traffic To Your Site! Where is the Cash In You merely Staying Fit Safe And Healthy...
Crazy dream huh? Until you look at some of those courses, newsletters and blogs out there in Internet Bizopp Land!
