Ginger is known for its medical properites and pungent taste. Ginger belongs to the family of Turmeric. The under ground stem of this plant is used for medicine and flavouring.

For more than 2000 years, the Chinese have used ginger as a medicine and also as a flavouring agent. When added in food, Ginger adds a special flavour. Its medicinal properties help cure Gastrointestinal problems.

People who have allergies to Bus Travels or any other kind of journey carry Ginger sweets to avoid Vomiting Sensation. This is usually available in South India. Ginger paste mixed in sugar and cubes made out of them can be chewed to avoid Nausea or Vomiting Sensations

Ginger is usually available all around the year. Ginger is available in different other forms including crystallized, candied and pickled ginger. Ginger can be stored in the refrigerator to close to three weeks if it is not peeled. Well, if the same is maintained in the freezer as unpeeled, it can stay fresh up to six months. Dried ginger powder should be kept in a tightly sealed glass container in a cool, dark and dry place.
