After reading about the flat belly diet in Prevention magazine and hearing about it on tv, I decided to order the book and get started losing some of the fat around my stomach.

It seems that no matter how many sit ups you do, the mid section fat just won't go anywhere. The flat belly diet focuses on eating the right amount and right types of food to help you to lose weight around the stomach.

The program starts you off with a 4-day jumpstart to help with bloating issues and also to help you get used to 4 meals a day. I did okay on the first 2 days and the 4th, but I, had to do day 3 twice.

Yesterday the actual diet started for me.

The Flat Belly Diet Day 1 went well. The goal is to eat every 4 hours and keep the calories around 400. A few of my meals were under 400 calories and a few were slightly over.

Throughout the day, I didn't have to deal with hunger too much. When I did get a little hungry I just had a very small serving of Special K with skim milk. That cereal has so much protein that it fills me-just a small amount.

I definitely feel less stuffed by keeping my meals to 400 calories. And if I increase my water intake, I am not as tired throughout the day. The key is to drink that water early in the day, before my mid-afternoon energy drop.

I decided to weigh myself this morning (Uhggg!) I weighed in at 144 lbs. The numbers were a little higher than I expected. I think the last time I weighed myself was at least 1 year ago. I would like to lose about 10 lbs total. Most of these 10 lbs are probably concentrated around my stomach.

In the flat belly diet it says that people that weigh themselves every week tend to gain less weight over the course of a year than those that weigh themselves only once a month. I guess I will need to start stepping on the scale if I really want to get rid of these excess pounds.

Stay tuned for Day 2 Flat Belly Diet tomorrow. Also read about a 6 week weight loss + exercise plan.
