The causes of hearing loss is something that everyone should know in order to prevent this from happening. The ability to hear is one of the five senses of the body that can has effect on the whole body. Without hearing, we can lose our balance. It allows us to enjoy the simple things in life such as listening to the chirp of the birds or the roar of the ocean. There are many different causes for hearing loss. Here we will take a look at some of these different causes.
There are many reasons that may cause us to lose our hearing. These causes can be medical, genetic or even old age. Before we can really understand the causes of hearing loss, we need to know that there are different types of hearing loss. These different types of hearing loss can be the result of very different causes. One type of hearing loss is Conductive hearing loss. This is the transmission interruption of sound from the outer ear to the inner ear. Some causes of this type of hearing loss are infections of the middle ear, collections of fluid in the middle ear, a wax build up blocking the outer ear, a perforated or pierced ear drum, Otosclerosis and damage to the ossicles.
The other type of hearing loss is Sensorineural hearing loss. This type of hearing loss means that the pathway that the sound impulses travel through has been damaged. Causes of this type of hearing loss are as follows. Acoustic Nueroma, Acoustic trauma, Meniere's disease, certain types of drugs, age related issues and other neurological conditions. There is also a condition of mixed hearing loss where you can have hearing loss of both types caused from the different reasons on both lists.
Hearing loss can happen to any body regardless of their age. It is seen in small children as well as adults and seniors. When some one loses their hearing, it can be something that has been an onset problem or something that happened suddenly. If you are experiencing problems with your hearing, then it is recommended that you visit your local doctor or visit an ENT (ear, nose, and throat specialist). These people are able to do the necessary test to check your hearing. They can also answer any questions that you may have and provide better information on the causes of hearing loss.
