From Frizzy to Flat Hairstyles

Posted on Jun 18, 2009 at 03:53 PM by Perriann Rodriguez | Comments (0)

It seems as I get older my hair gets frizzier. And of course summer is the worst time of year for frizz-with all the humidity in the air.

I have been experimenting with using different hair products for frizzy hair over the last month. Basically I want to use up all the products I have bought before I go out and buy any more.

Today I tried a styling cream from Kenra. I'm not sure it is supposed to be for frizzy hair, but it does seem to help with frizz. Typically I have combined this styling cream with an assortment of other products, trying to get product combos that work. The theory is that if I put more product on my hard to manage hair, then the frizz will be controlled better.

Of course this can be a good thing and a bad thing. Good - because you know that you are getting a good cut and bad because you won't look like that again until you get your next haircut.

So, what can you do about this?

Historically, children were regarded as inferior individuals. They were expected to work alongside their parents instead of getting to enjoy being a child. Their job was to be seen, but not heard at all times. Thankfully, our society has come a long way since then. Parents today want only the best for their children. They strive to provide their children with the best clothes, education, and experiences they can. They also love fixing up rooms so their children can have an idyllic space of their own.

Hair Loss Products: Over-the-Counter vs. Prescription

Posted on Mar 16, 2009 at 04:57 PM by Kristie Brown | Comments (0)

It doesn't matter who you are. Anyone, young or old, rich or poor, can become bald. We usually think of men as being the victims of balding, but women and even some children struggle with the problems it causes, too. Losing hair as we age is a natural phenomenon, but for most people balding is presents a social stigma that they'd rather not face. In order to prevent premature balding you need to eat a healthy diet, practice good hygiene, and get plenty of sleep. Even so you may find yourself dealing with a substantial hair loss and looking for products that will prevent and even reverse it.

You need to use caution when purchasing anti-hair-loss products.

Granted, most guys wouldn't buy a magazine about men's hairstyles. But if you are looking to update or change your hairstyle, where should you look if you are a guy? Or where should you send someone else to look if you don't want to look yourself.

In these tough times, do you make adjustments to the way you take care of your hair? Maybe instead of buying expensive salon brand hair care products, are you opting for cheaper versions found at your local drugstore?

I know the cost of a haircut and style has gone up quite a bit at some salons. The one that I regularly go to is now running around $60 for a haircut (including tip)

Home Age Spot Treatments

It's important to remember that a home remedy to fade age spots may not work as well for you as it does for someone else. Also, unlike a medical procedure, you have no guarantee of effectiveness or safety. That means it's important to take precautions when you use an age spot treatment you're not familiar with. However, if you stick to age spot treatments that use harmless ingredients, the worst thing that will happen is no effect at all. That's why many age spot sufferers try this type of age spots treatment before seeking professional medical help.

Cold Sores Be Gone Product Review

Posted on Jan 22, 2009 at 01:29 PM by Perriann Rodriguez | Comments (0)

Do you get cold sores? Cold sores typically show up around stressful times and can also be triggered by sun, wind, cold (pretty much anything).

There are many different treatment ideas floating around. Just to name a few --put toothpaste on the sore as soon as you feel it, same for finger nail polish remover, put ice on it. Some of these treatments do work for some people.

My daughter used (as in the past) to get really bad cold sores that would last for 1-2 months, often leaving some sort of scar. We tried all of the above ideas. None of them really worked, until we discovered the product COLD SORES BE GONE.

You will not believe what is in this product and how it has stopped cold sores in their tracks.

How much do you pay for a haircut?

Posted on Jan 20, 2009 at 11:37 AM by Perriann Rodriguez | Comments (0)

When I was younger, I used to frequent the cheap haircut places on a regular basis. My hairstyle wasn't too complicated and I didn't really feel I needed to spend more than $10 or $15 for my cut. Plus I didn't really see a big difference in the way my hair looked after spending more money than that.

Now, after years of getting haircuts, I can honestly say that there is a marked difference between the $10-15 haircut and the $50-70 haircut. But, when you talk about the $25-40 range, I don't see a big increase in satisfaction over the cuts at the cheaper salons.

What do you pay for your haircut?

Acne May Be Nasty But Can Be Treated

Posted on Nov 26, 2008 at 05:38 PM by Reuben Oyeyele | Comments (0)

Everyone loves to have great skin that is free from acne. Don't we all just detest acne, but yet so many of us are affected with it in our teenage years. Everyone has oil glands that help to moisturize their skin. If your glands produce too much oil, it can definitely cause or contribute to your acne problem. Everyone could just get rid of it by scrubbing. The problem is that bacteria is located beneath the surface of the skin, and scrubbing the surface of the skin will not get rid of this bacteria.

Teenagers with acne may feel besieged by the sudden changes in their appearance. Puberty and acne have been known to go hand in hand. Teenagers who have acne feel isolated, ugly, and insecure. Who wouldn't when everywhere you look, only clear faced (skinned) people are put on the pedestal. Teenagers seem to be the favorite prey for acne. This usually occurs when a teenager is undergoing puberty.

Common causes of acne include contact with an oily substance such as mineral oil, vegetable oil, or petroleum and the use of certain medication such as steroids or the contraceptive pill. However, acne is most often caused by the secretion of androgens, or sex hormones that are initially secreted at the onset of puberty. Common people would connect it to puberty or to adolescence. As we could see or read in some researches, there are also adults who experience the same acne problems as adults do.

Getting Rid Of Acne

Bacteria that are built up on the skin should be eliminated. To do this, it is most effective to use an acne face wash that is aimed at removing bacteria on the skin. Bacteria begin to thrive in these conditions and the bodies immune system kicks in to combat this. It is the bodies immune response which causes the redness and inflammation found in acne.

Things To Avoid

Avoiding stress and exercising regularly while eating healthy and avoiding greasy foods can greatly reduce the amount of acne one has. After trying the natural ways to reduce acne, then it is a good idea to use acne medicines. Avoid using products with a high alcohol content that dries and irritates the skin. Hypoallergenic products may be a wise choice so that you avoid adding additional stresses and drying tendencies to the already challenged skin. Avoid rubbing, touching, or itching your skin with your hands. Your hands contain a lot of bacteria that can cause acne flare-ups.

Avoid sugar and sweet. Also avoid coffee since it may aggravate your acne condition. Avoid mixing or using a lot of products. One moisturizer is enough or one type of gentle cleanser will do.

Clearpores

ClearPores has the possibility to become the most popular herbal acne treatment for many reasons, but especially because of their three-part cleansing system. Clearpores grabs the problem by its roots and removes the reasons for your acne outbreaks.

Clearpores is all-natural and scientifically formulated to reduce acne from the inside out. The product is highly recommended by doctors, herbalists, and of course, consumers and beauty- conscious out there. ClearPores does not follow the trends of most acne products and has rearranged the cycle of harsh chemicals to all natural herbal ingredients. An herbal supplement combined with the facial cleansing system depletes internal bacteria from the body, where symptoms of acne reside.

Clearpores is not just a single product designed to treat merely one aspect of acne, but a powerful 3-part system that attacks both the causes and the effects of acne anywhere on your body. ClearPores is a full skincare system designed to clear away nasty red spots and blackheads that spoil the carefully crafted image of a stylish man. Using the effective of SD Alcohol and Salicylic Acid, ClearPores is able to open up the pores and clear away the grime, excess sebum and bacteria.

Review of FHI Technique Flat Iron

Posted on Nov 13, 2008 at 11:15 AM by Perriann Rodriguez | Comments (0)

My flat iron finally died the other day. Actually if you hold the cord just right, you can still get it to work a little bit. So I decided to order a new flat iron. Starting off on my research, I looked at several different brands. The salon where I cut my hair uses the Chi iron. They used to use the FHI iron.

If you want a quality flat iron, you could probably spend over $200. But, I really didn't want to go that high. I figure my old flat iron lasted nearly 3 years and that was with very heavy use---3 people using it--sometimes on a daily basis.

So, I decided to set the maximum amount to spend at around $150.

The secret to finding perfect hairstyles

Posted on Nov 10, 2008 at 01:33 PM by Perriann Rodriguez | Comments (0)

I don't know about everyone else out there, but I frequently go through hair dilemas. I want my hair to be longer, yet when it grows out, I hate the way it looks. When my hair grows out it tends to get very thick and is impossible to keep frizz-free.

Unless I make frequent trips to the salon to get it thinned out and layered, I know I will be in for some pretty bad hair days.

I just started reading the book called 'Great Hair' by Nick Arrojo--the hairstylist for TLC's 'What Not To Wear' and I realize that maybe I am missing a very important step to selecting my hairstyle.

Do you have redness in your face?

Posted on Oct 20, 2008 at 03:42 PM by Perriann Rodriguez | Comments (1)

I always use to think that I needed to see a dermatologist to get rid of the redness, splotchiness on my face. For several years I actually did see a dermatologist and used a prescription antibiotic cream called Metrocream for several years.

The prescription cream did work after awhile, but I was concerned with having to use a certain cream every day for the rest of my life.

So, after my last prescription ran out several years ago, I started searching for another non-prescription solution for the redness in my face. You will not believe what I discovered.

Those Enticing Headlines

Posted on Oct 10, 2008 at 10:00 AM by Perriann Rodriguez | Comments (0)

Have you ever been enticed to watch the News at 11:00 pm because of some teaser they mention at 4:00 pm? Like '4 Guaranteed ways to get a raise--story at 11:00 pm' Then when you actually stay up to watch it you are very disappointed to find out what the story is actually about. Like you didn't know that you should ask for a raise?

I find myself increasingly annoyed by beauty magazine covers that claim all sorts of things are inside the magazine. And if you just fork over the $5 or whatever it cost, you will be amazingly suprised with all the information.

As I was doing my daily minutes on the elliptical today, I grabbed one of the magazines that I subscribe to to read. One of the headlines on the cover mentions 20 some ways that you can have sexy hair or new things you can do with your hair---something like that.

As I flipped through the magazine, anxious to read how I can have sexy hair............

Do you ever see hairstyles that you just love--but will absolutely never go to a salon to get? Well that is me. I love looking at all the new hairstyles online and seeing all the celebrity trends. I'm always thinking--would that look good on me?

There are these imaging programs now that let you try on hairstyles before you get them cut, just to see how they would look on you. You can upload a picture of yourself and then click on the hairstyle you like. These programs are pretty cool. You can even change hair color, add highlights/lowlights and even add makeup/accessories.

My absolute favorite style, that I will probably never get is.........

Herbs In Cosmetics

Posted on Oct 9, 2008 at 04:46 AM by Teresita C. Tayanes | Comments (0)

Herbs have always been "in" where beauty is concerned. After all women used herbs, roots and flowers since time immemorial before packaged beauty products were produced. The current trend of "green" inspired products, it is clear, is a return to the basics, in which we see today's cosmetic industry participating.

Beauty and cosmetic companies that draw inspiration from nature are now found all over the world. Clarins, a French company, has been manufacturing for years skincare products that contain highly concentrated vegetable ingredients. Another is Givenchy, whose make-up colors and skincare lines are filled of light effects drawn from Nature; sun, sea, coral. There are also an increasing number of ecology-inspired local companies such as makers of herbal soaps and lotions based from vegetable extracts, fruits, and flowers.

The big hairstyle trend this fall is bob hairstyles. Celebrities everywhere are chopping off their long hair for these trendy short to medium length hairstyles.
