Trimspa is an over the counter dietary supplement that contains natural ingredients that promise to help users to effectively lose weight in as little time possible. Read this Trimspa (TM) diet pill review before you decide whether it's suitable for you or not!

The lowdown on Trimspa

Trimspa contains extracts of a South African plant called Hoodia gordonii which is used traditionally as an appetite suppressant by some South African indigenous tribes. Trimspa also contains glucomannan which is derived from root of the konjac plant which is scientifically known as Amorphophallus konjac. Glucomannan is a water-soluble dietary fiber that is recognized as a laxative that expands in the stomach which in effect provides the feeling of fullness to those who have taken it.

The other beneficial ingredients of the Trimspa diet pills are:
Chromium – a nutrient that controls cravings for glucose and carbohydrates, helps insulin metabolize fat, helps convert protein to muscle and turns sugar into energy.

Vanadium – a natural appetite suppressant which also helps convert carbohydrates to energy

Citrus Naringine – a soluble fiber derived from citrus fruits that is also an appetite suppressant and anti-oxidant

Glucosamine HCL - extends the period glucose stays in the blood after eating.

Cocoa Extract (Theobromine) - a known as a diuretic and stimulant derived from the cocoa plant

Green Tea Extract – has been known to be a natural fat burner and antioxidant. Green tea also contains pigallocatechin gallate, a substance that is said to reduce food intake and even body weight. Each Trimspa pill contains 125 mg of green tea extract.

Trimspa also has the food dyes FD&C Red #40, and Aluminum lake (blue dye) and other additives.

Some experts believe that Trimspa contains an excessive amount of chromium (75 mcg per tablet). If a person takes the recommended daily dosage of Trimspa which is 6 tablets then that person would be getting a total of 450 mcg of Chromium which exceeds the daily recommended safe dose allowance for the mineral. Many multivitamins and mineral’s also contain Chromium so individuals taking Trimspa and multivitamins at the same time is in danger of getting too much Chromium in their system .

Trimspa can cause anxiety and insomnia. If taken in the late afternoon by an individual, he or she may have difficult sleeping come night time. Aside from insomnia, Trimspa is also known to cause anxiety attacks, restlessness and palpitations. These side effects are largely attributed to the large green tea content of Trimspa which contains caffeine. The full daily does of Trimspa contain 300 mg of caffeine which is equivalent to three large cups of coffee. The drug also contains cocoa extract which is also stimulating.

Trimspa can also cause migraine attacks because of the cocoa extract which contains tyramine, a substance known to trigger migraine. Because it contains tyramine, Trimspa should not be taken with MAO Inhibitor antidepressant drugs which include Marplan, Nardil, Eldepryl and Parnate which reacts with the substance. The reaction of tyramine and these MAO Inhibitor antidepressants may cause an increase in blood pressure, headache, vomiting, nausea, symptoms of psychosis, confusion, seizures and in more serious cases stroke which could lead to the user being in a comatose state.

The food dyes and additives contained in Trimspa may also cause some adverse effect on health.

Some experts also question the contribution of glucosamine to weight loss. Some experts believe that glucosamine can increase blood sugar levels and lessen the tolerance to glucose which can cause weight gain, contrary to what Trimspa promises.

Aside from the side effects, Trimspa can also give an adverse effect on your budget. At almost $40 a bottle, Trimspa is a very expensive drug. A bottle will only last for at most two weeks. A daily regimen of Trimspa therefore can cost you more than $100 a month.
