Poker Chip Sets

Poker chip sets are part of the making of a poker player. While you can obtain your chips when you get to your game, it is often fun to bring your poker chip sets with you. Many times people hosting the games will allow you to use the chip sets that you brought instead of having to use the ones that they have at the game.

Texas Hold'em - Understanding the Flop

After the first round of bidding, the dealer lays down three cards, known as the flop. These are available to all players to use along with their two hole cards. However, if you have played other forms of poker, it is important to adjust your thinking here. Whatever the flop is, it could very well suit anyone else's hand as well as your own. After all, three of a kind beats even two aces. You may have noticed in the pre-flop bidding that some people were bidding up a storm. They could have pairs and are counting on a third card to come up that will match their pair.

Bots Bots and Bots

I don't know whether it's good news or not but not everyone is impressed with the poker bot program. The default bot programmng has limitations, some people tell me. One example is that the bot will raise when it has a good hand even if your human sense is that you have a better hand.
In order to customize the bot, you will need to have some serious math skills and feel comfortable about programming.
However, in response to this criticism, I believe that the good poker players have some serious math skills. One of my favorite poker buddies, whom I shall call Robbie, is a math whiz.

I am shocked. Shocked!! My son called last night to tell me about this article in the September issue of Wired where it was revealed that CptPokr is a bot!!! Okay, so this is a pseudonym for the purposes of the article. But the fact remains that WinHoldEm is an autoplaying poker software that allows the possibility of bot players at your very own online poker table.
Is nothing sacred?
My son summarized it well. "What," he asked, "is the point of having a bot play poker for you why you sleep?"
