Everyone wants to get good grades, but it might not be your utmost priority and you may not be approaching the task the right way. Getting good grades is easier than you might think. Follow these tips and you will be on your way to getting the grades you've always wanted, impressing your parents with higher grades and making new friends in the process.
In some high schools across the nation, it can be considered uncool or nerdy to get good grades, so why would you want to get them anyways? You want to get good grades because it is going to help you get ahead in life. Do you want to work at McDonalds' for the rest of your life? I sure hope not, and if you believe that a few people in high school that consider you to be nerdy is worth changing the course of your life then I guess you are better off hanging out with those people and becoming the next McDonald's manager for life.
So first of all you need to make sure that you want to get good grades. If you're scared that other people will pick on you or tease you because your have higher grades then them: so what? You don't want these people's opinions about you to lower your chances of being a successful person with a great family, a great home, career and car... Basically if you want to live the American dream, you will have to be able to ignore those jealous people in your high school and push ahead of them with your stellar grades. Now you're sure you want good grades, but how high should you aim? I believe you should always aim for 100% on all of your assignments, homework and tests. You may not always get 100%, but at least you were trying for it and you didn't ruin your potential by not trying hard enough.
Next you need to improve your work ethic and your study habits. You might be whining saying that you don't have time for that kind of stuff. But you do and once you learn the tricks to learning better and faster, you won't have a problem with spending a few hours on your homework and studies. Studying doesn't have to be hard and boring, you can make it much more fun and challenging. First off, pick a topic that you are not doing very well in, which will most likely be a topic that you're not very interested in. Your teacher will probably have told you to do some questions from the book. Here is where you need to plan ahead: give yourself at least a few days to work on the assignment, that way if you can't figure out one question you will be able to sleep on it and your mind will help you figure it out while you're asleep.
An important thing to do if you didn't understand the material while your teacher was talking about it during class is to read the book over. Some things might sound familiar from the class, and that's a good thing. The human mind requires information to be learned three times before it will store it and remember it. So to prepare for an exam, make sure that you go to all classes, read the chapters that are being studied and make notes about the subject. These three things combined will make sure you remember everything you need for the exam. For more study techniques and tips.
So what are you waiting for, get to work!
