Halloween is less than one week away, and if you still don't have a Halloween costume ready then you might be in a state of panic. Lucky for you, this article will explain exactly how you can make your own funny halloween costumes at home. Your homemade funny halloween costume will entertain and amaze all of your friends, so don't let your shyness or lack of time stop you: it's time to get your scissors and construction paper out: It's Halloween time!

First a little bit of a pep talk: making your own do it yourself halloween costumes is not as hard as it may seem. But you will need to do a little bit of planning and you might even need to leave the house or apartment if you really need to buy some supplies. Some of the things you might need are the following: old clothes you don't mind cutting up, face paint or other non-toxic paints, scissors, glue, sparkles, construction paper and other such decoration materials you might have used in school back in the day.

Once you've got everything you need, it's time to get your imagination flowing. Get a blank sheet of paper, or if you prefer do it on your computer: just write down every idea for a costume that comes to mind, no matter how silly, boring or amazing it might be. Draw some lines between related ideas, and soon you will see a bit of theme of funny halloween costumes forming. If the ideas seem a little too far fetched, remember that you can always abstract the costume by printing out a picture of it and sticking this paper on your chest and back, or even making holes and wearing it in front of your face!

Now that you have at least a general theme, it's time to get to work! Use the old articles of clothing that you have to make the most out of your costume. Most costumes work well with dark colours, so if you want to blend into the crowd wear all black clothing and maybe bring some rubber duckies with you: you'll be a chick magnet! Or likewise, paint your face with a little nose and whiskers, bring a keyboard with you and be a computer mouse! The possibilities are endless! Just look around your apartment or house for random items that could be used as props.

So what are you waiting for? Go out there and get creative! Design your own funny halloween costume at home and spook some friends and relatives!
