How to Play PS2 Games On PS3

One distinct advantage any new generation console can have is backwards compatibility. What that refers to is the ability to play games from past generation consoles from the same console manufacturer. This is apparent on the Xbox 360 with the ability to play many Xbox titles, the Nintendo Wii to play games from the NES, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, and Gamecube, and the Playstation 3's ability to play games from the Playstation and Playstation 2. However, there are some limitations to the Playstation 3's backwards compatibility, limitations that will stop many PS3 owners from enjoying classic titles, although Sony is looking to address these concerns. Learning how to play PS2 games on PS3 involves more luck than technical know-how for most gamers unfortunately.

Is It Love? How To Tell The Difference
Posted on Mar 14, 2009 at 09:58 PM by Teresita C. Tayanes
| Comments (0)
Love is such a little word but with so many meanings. The four-letter word appears on greeting cards, T-shirts, stickers and is the favorite subject of songs, poetry, and movies. Love helps to sell everything from perfume to pantyhose to pizza. It is no wonder people sometimes get confused about what others mean when they talk about love.
How do you define love? If you check the dictionary, you will find many definitions of the word "love", depending on what it is you're loving, your family, a friend or that special person in your heart. Scientists have also found a chemical in part of the brain that triggers a response to feelings of love. This means a giddy reaction to a special person in your life may be automatic.
How can you tell whether the love you feel is the lasting kind? Audrey Palm Rider and Holly E. Brisbane, authors of the book, "Married & Single Life", highlight the difference between infatuation and love that will last :
It is NOT LOVE when...
• It happens suddenly.
• You want or plan to change the person.
• Separation causes you to forget him or her.
• Thoughts are of your own needs and feelings.
• Feelings are based on one or two qualities of a person.
• You are too much in love to eat or work.
• Differences are ignored.
• You can't wait.
• It fades fast.

The Senseless Death of Adam Dunn Age 18 - Latrobe PA
Posted on Jun 7, 2008 at 01:35 PM by Margaret Dunn
| Comments (0)
Adam Dunn, so young, died tragically on December 23, 2007. The people who did this have still not been brought to justice. Everyday those of us who have been left behind have to live with the sadness that Adam is no longer in our lives and the disbelief that nothing has been done yet to solve this case. We could possibly understand if it made any sense, but the whole incident made no sense whatsoever.
It was a tragedy that never had to happen. The men who ran Adam and George over had plenty of time to see them, had plenty of time to stop, and had a birm where they could have driven onto if they were out of control. Even after the first vehicle hit George, why did the second car come along and hit Adam and then hit George again? Was the person in the second car completely oblivious to what had just happened? Didn't they see that the first truck had already hit someone? If they did see it, what would cause them to not get out of the way? Senseless. No answers. Frustration abounds. Justice has not been served. "Vengence is mine says the Lord". Sometimes, deep in our hearts, that is a very hard verse to swallow. God demands forgiveness and sometimes we just have to pray that God will soften our hearts toward these types of people who seem to have no regard for life. Each of us has to deal with this tragedy in his or her own way. Perhaps this article will serve to help put life in perspective and not take those we love for granted. Hopefully it will bring to light an urgent need for each of us to value each other every moment of the day. In memory of Adam Dunn.

Teen depression is not just mood swings and transient melancholy. While mood swings are fairly common in adolescents, parents and elder siblings should be conscious that a confluence of factors may lead to severe depression which may cause the teen to take his or her life.

* Death of a loved one, parent's divorce, or breaking up with a girlfriend or boyfriend.

* Stress, especially if the teenager lacks emotional support
* Hormonal changes that occur during puberty which may cause unexpected emotions.
* Medical conditions such as hypothyroidism which may cause hormonal imbalance.
* Substance abuse which can cause changes in brain chemistry.
* Nutritional deficiences .
What can parents do to help prevent their teenage children from committing suicide? According to Dr. Asuncion Reloza, each family member must be willing to listen to the disturbed teen. Listening is the most important thing a parent can do to break down what is at the heart of the adolescent problem. Parents must :

How to Plan and Design a Bedroom Fit for a Teen

It's time to turn your kid room into one fit for a teen. But where do you start?
First of all you need to evaluate the space you have in terms of size and shape. The best way to do this is to empty your room completely.
By emptying your bedroom of its contents you can also evaluate the condition of the walls, floor, windows, doors and trim.
Regardless of whether you're redecorating from top to bottom or just applying a fresh coat of paint and adding in some new curtains, the job is made a lot easier when your bedroom isn't filled with stuff.

How to Prep Your Teen Room for Painting
Posted on Apr 4, 2008 at 06:25 PM by Sherrie Le Masurier

Every good paint job requires some prep work. I believe if it's worth doing, it's worth doing well.
First, talk to your parents about all your required materials e.g. drywall mud (compound), putty knives, scrapers, sandpaper, painter's tape, brushes, rollers - and of course, how much paint you'll need.
Second, call in the troops - gather as many friends together as can reasonably fit in your teen room and be productive; and turn the event into a fun painting party. As an incentive promise your friends you'll order pizza afterwards and return the favor when it comes time to makeover their own bedrooms (which chances are good they'll be doing sooner than later once they see how awesome your teen room turned out).

Extreme sports are on the rise, and parents need to take a closer look at what's going on with this type of risk-taking activity before children start practicing something known to be dangerous. BASE jumping is one extreme sport that is by far the most dangerous, but it is also one that young individuals are getting into at a frightening rate. Essentially, BASE jumping is leaping from a fixed object and descending to the ground using a parachute, and those who enjoy this type of thrill are usually referred to as insane in psychological circles. Learning more about the extreme sport can be helpful to know what our daredevil youths are dealing with.

How do you tell your parents you are gay?
Posted on Feb 26, 2008 at 11:10 AM by Nathalie Lussier
This controversial topic could strike fear in the hearts of many gay teenagers who are faced with the prospect of telling their parents they are gay. No matter what your religious views or your personal opinions about homosexuals, coming out to your parents is still a very hard thing to do. Especially in today's hypersensitive world where everyone needs to be perfect and fit into the mold that society dictates.
Although I have never had to tell my parents I was gay, because I am not gay myself, I have had the discomfort of talking to them about my different views in life. I have felt a lot of resistance from my parents about my choices of diet, of romantic partners and of life ambitions and directions. So I hope to be able to help teens figure out exactly how to tell their parents they are a gay man or a lesbian woman.

Consumers must love teeth whitening products because it is a big money industry. Not all teeth whitening dental kits are the same and some homeopathic remedies can be dangerous for your teeth. The problem most people do not address is the basics of tooth care. A whitening kit cannot solve all of your problems. Once you have the basics down, then you can proceed to trying whitening kits to help give you a smile of which to be proud, but until then, you are throwing away money for nothing.

It stands to reason that when the bicycle was first invented, there were not always smooth highways to peddle down. There were a lot of fields and open terrain that could not be ridden over. Cyclocross is a particular sport designed to test the athletic abilities of the riders in a way that mountain biking and road racing does not. It is the ultimate cross breed of all styles of riding.

Prom Dress Alterations: Dealing with changes in Width
Posted on Jan 23, 2008 at 06:19 PM by Christopher Smith
| Comments (0)
When you shop for the perfect prom dress and you find the gorgeous size 2 gown that would be perfect for you if it wasn't for the fact you wear a size 10, you have a few options. First, you can choose to attempt to make some prom dress alterations in hopes of fitting into the gorgeous gown. Generally, if you are within 1 to 3 sizes, this is possible, although it's not necessarily the best route.
Prom dress alterations can be made using the fabric that is available in the seam allowances to make the dress a larger size. Using those same seams, prom dresses can be made smaller. When making these changes, it is best to start with a gown that is too large. It is much easier to remove fabric than it is to try to let some out.

How to deal with being considered a weird teenager
Posted on Jan 18, 2008 at 05:31 PM by Nathalie Lussier
If you are a teenager and a lot of your peers or people around you seem to think you are really weird, well you are not alone. In fact I believe that anyone who doesn't fit into today's model of the televised average teenager, might be considered a strange weirdo. A lot of the supposedly normal teenagers today tend to be pretty similar because they all follow the examples they see from television and the media. Teenage girls might be really into fashion, reading magazines, becoming overly interested in the lives of movie stars and keeping too close of a tab on their weight. As for what teenage boys tend to focus on, it's more in the realm of the latest games, gadgets, sports.

Prom Dress Alterations: When Length is an Issue
Posted on Dec 28, 2007 at 07:44 PM by Christopher Smith
| Comments (0)
There are several different ways to go about prom dress alterations when length is an issue. Whether your dress is too long or not long enough there are a few options that you have to fix the issue. Some options are obvious, while others may take a bit of thought and ingenuity.
First of all, when you purchase a prom dress, it is very likely that you are going to have to alter the length. Most prom dresses are built to fit girls who are 5' 9", giving enough material for those who are shorter to work with when hemming them up. If you're taller than 5' 9" then you may have difficulty finding a dress that is full length. Alterations can be done to increase or decrease length as needed.

Like To Read But Don't Have The Time?
Audio Books can be the solution!
We have a lot to be grateful for when talking about technology.
Who would have ever believed that not only would we cut down on the way we use up our vegetation for making hardcover and paperback books, we would also be able to "listen" to our books instead of "reading" them.
Ironic? Not with the introduction of audio books.
With audio books, we now have the unique advantage of doing other things that take up our hands, but not our minds. We can now do other things like household chores, exercising, driving or riding in a vehicle, etc while still having the book read to us.
There are several ways you can listen to an audio book: on your PC, iPod, MP3, download to a cd and play in your car or other types of sound systems that support the playing devices.
More people are embracing the wonders of audio books and are buying their favorite books in audio book version.
If you are considering buying an audio book, below are a few of many favorite places you can enjoy your new found treasure.
1--In bed - There are certain days when we just don't want to do anything but lie down in bed thinking of certain issues. Or we could just want to lie down in the dark until we fall asleep.
This is a great time to listen to an audio book. You wouldn't have to bother with turning on the lights, holding the book, flipping through the pages or the stress of reading the book itself.
With an audio book, the entire book will be read to you while you stay comfortable in bed - without flipping any pages, holding the book or turning on the lights.
2--In the kitchen while doing household chores such as washing the dishes or cooking. For some people it can be very boring and tasking being in the kitchen, especially washing the dishes.
This is a great time to enjoy an audio book because your hands are busy but your mind is free.
Instead of feeding your mind with negative thoughts, an audio book would be a wonderful alternative.
3--In the garden while gardening - You can also listen to audio books while gardening. The audio book can make the gardening fun because you would be concentrating on the enjoyment of the audio book and not on the difficulty of gardening.
4--While exercising such as walking, jogging or even running - Exercising such as walking leaves your mind open but your hands, legs and even your entire body busy. This is a great time to enjoy an audio book.
Most people perform exercises for many minutes or even hours while their minds do nothing. But listening to an audio book during this time ensures you don't waste those times when you exercise.
Talk about killing 2 birds with one stone - exercising your body and mind at the same time!
5--On the road commuting - This could either be in your personal car or a commercial bus or train ride to work. You see, many people lose a great deal of time doing nothing while commuting to and from their jobs.
Why not use that time to listen to an audio book, especially one that develops your mind and/or improves your professional and business skills?
For example, listening to an audio book that improves your skills daily can do a lot of good to your career, instead of listening to a musical song which wouldn't help you much in the area of skill acquisition.
6--In the air while traveling - You wouldn't believe it, but there are many people who spend more time in the air than on road. There are professional assignments that involve traveling from one state to the other, or even from one country to the other.
If you are in such a situation, consider the enormous benefits you would get listening to audio books, especially those that can improve your professional or personal skills.
Yes, there are many audio book courses made specifically for professional and personal improvements,
and thousands upon thousands for your own personal enjoyment.
Have fun listening.

Zyprexa soon to be marketed to teens?
Posted on Nov 7, 2007 at 01:00 PM by Sherrie Le Masurier
| Comments (0)
Did you know the drug Zyprexa, already known to cause weight gain and other metabolic complications that can be accentuated among adolescents, may soon be marketed to teens if Eli Lilly has its way?
In October the manufacturer of Zyprexa agreed with a recommendation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to strengthen the label warnings on its product to include a reference to side effects including weight gain and high cholesterol, among other issues.
For the first time, Lilly is required to admit on its product labelling that Zyprexa carries a greater risk for increased levels of blood sugar than some other competing atypical antipsychotics. This can lead to the onset of diabetes, and there have been 23 deaths amongst users of Zyprexa - known generically as olanzapine - arising from complications from diabetes.

Family Activities - Some Commonly Asked Questions About Magic
Posted on Nov 6, 2007 at 08:39 PM by Martin Aranovitch
| Comments (0)
There is something about magic that fascinates us. Long bearded wizards waving a staff as beams of light shoot forth. A fantastic floor show in which white tigers appear and disappear captures our attention as surely as the magician locked within a straight jacket that somehow escapes at the last moment. The mystery of the magician has surrounded us since the beginning of time from the midwives who cured a festering wound to the gypsies reading Tarot cards to divine our fortunes. Does magic truly exist or is it all in the mind of the beholder?
Magic has been around for a long time but for how long?
Magic has been around, in some form, from the moment humans first came into existence. Early man associated magic with religious beliefs. Some felt that magical occurrences were the work of the devil while others believed it came from the Gods. There have been many times when the use of magic was punished severely as evident by the Salem Witch Trials held in Salem, Massachusetts. There is no concrete evidence to support whether or not magic truly does exist so it is a topic that solely depends on the beliefs of the individual.

Not all acne is the same. While some pimples can be effectively healed by popping others can be made worse.

What follows is the step-by-step process I follow each time I get the urge to pop a traditional red pimple or what is known as a whitehead.
Start by washing your face with a gentle cleanser. Your cleanser should be hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic and alcohol-free.
Use warm water and gently work into a lather for at about 30 seconds.

My experience has taught me that it's not worth it to try and force a pimple to pop. Sometimes your zit isn't ready to be popped yet.
Let me explain, if your pimple is just a red bump and there isn't any yellowish-white pus visible just beneath the surface then I recommend you wait. You see, trying to pop your zit at this stage will cause nothing but harm.

The system is selling out quickly in virtually every retail outlet, making the new Nintendo Wii one of the most desirable items on the market.
Are there really any deals to be had on a new Nintendo Wii system? People are shopping from Wii images on the internet and clicking links with hopes that they will be able to find a good bargain on a new Nintendo Wii. Those Wii images are often linked to websites that offer special deals or contests, but the reality is that finding a new Nintendo Wii can be a lot harder than simply clicking on some image links. If so, I've got some great ideas for conquering all your clutter and making better use of the teen room space your have.
Since teen rooms function as both a place to relax and recharge your batteries as well as a place to get dressed and ready for each day, it’s important that the space is well organized. However, it’s hard to get organized and stay organized without having the proper tools.
Let’s start with the most obvious source of clutter. If I’m guessing correctly, it would be your clothing. If most of what you wear doesn’t have a home in your closet or is stored haphazardly then it’s time to reorganize your closet space.

Fun Halloween Costumes for Teenagers
Posted on Oct 9, 2007 at 02:29 PM by Nathalie Lussier
On Halloween night, the 31st of October, everyone wants the opportunity to dress up and have fun with their friends. This is especially the case for teenagers on Halloween. Originally, Halloween was celebrated as a Pagan holiday to honor the dead and to celebrate the bounty of the summer's harvest. Today Halloween serves less of a practical purpose as it did in those days, but it does emphasize the need for people to band together and share. Of course children are the ones who look forward to Halloween the most because they get to visiting their neighbors and gather candy and treats. But the next group of people who appreciate Halloween the most next are teenagers.

To say that my parents were not thrilled when I decided to go to cosmetology school is an understatement. They were absolutely mortified. I was going to a good one, but they didn't care. The Aveda beauty school, you see, was not a prestigious institution. My family had been going to Princeton University for about three generations now, and beauty schools were out of the question. They did not see cosmetology as a respectable field. Like many people, they assumed it was just something for high school dropouts to do. What they didn't realize was that beauty schools were my passion. It was not just an easy job for me to get. It was something that I wanted to do for a career.

First of all, what is a geek exactly? If you're a teenager then you probably know the definition of the word geek already, but for everyone else here it is: geeks are smart people who tend to become obsessive about certain topics that really interest them. For example there are computer geeks, band and music geeks, television geeks, movie geeks, voracious reader (literary) geeks, genre geeks and the list could go on and on. How are you supporting your children to be more confident?
Posted on Sep 28, 2006 at 05:13 PM by Diane Corriette

One of the biggest challenges as a parent is letting go and allowing our children to make their own mistakes. We will constantly "make them" play that instrument because it will be good for them or "force them" to wear that sweater because we feel a chill in the air. Or remind them "don't forget your school bag, don't forget your school kit, don't forget your ......." It's just endless!
How are teens suppose to learn responsibility and develop confidence when we keep taking it from them. And Yes I know we love them, etc etc, no need for that discussion, but isn't part of loving them supporting them in getting more confident?

Acne Skin Care Methods
Posted on Apr 13, 2006 at 01:23 AM by Len Cecchetto
| Comments (1)
Acne can be a painful and embarrassing condition for a person to be afflicted with. Often, a person who has acne cannot control its occurrence. But, by following a few acne skin care practices, acne can be controlled and even gotten rid of.
Acne is an inflammatory skin disease that affects millions of individuals. The most universal type of acne is known as "common acne". Acne is caused when too many oils are secreted from the glands and those oils mix with dead skin cells, blocking the hair follicles. More oil secretions increase underneath the already blocked follicles (or pores), and skin bacteria begin to grow rapidly. This leads to red and irritated skin that most often appears as bumps on the skin's surface. Any skin surface of the body is susceptible to acne, but it most commonly (and heavily) appears on the face, chest, back, and upper arm region.
Acne commonly begins to occur during puberty due to an irregular response by the body to regular levels of testosterone, a male hormone. Often, acne begins to subside or disappear altogether by the mid 20's. However, some individuals do suffer with it throughout adulthood. And some adults do not even see the onset of acne until well into the adult years. This is known as adult onset acne.
Acne can leave scarring on the skin, as well as have a scarring effect on a person's self-esteem, and even lead to depression. Because society can be so unforgiving about appearances, there are various medically prescribed treatments available, as well as acne skin care regimens that can be utilized in order to minimize the symptoms of acne.
Different things cause acne for different sufferers. A few of the recognized causes of acne include heredity, hormonal activity (puberty, menstruation, pregnancy), stress, certain medications, and skin irritation. All of these things have the potential to cause acne, as well as exacerbate it. There are a few myths regarding acne. For instance we've all heard of a mom telling her child not to eat too many greasy foods like French fries, or eat too many sweets, because it will give him or her pimples. That is simply an old wives' tale. Diet does not cause acne, and does not affect it. Also, poor hygiene has no bearing on the occurrence of acne. Acne is not caused by dirt, and having poor hygiene habits will not aggravate the condition.
There are many treatments for acne available, both through prescription, and over the counter. There are antibiotics in the form of pills, as well as topical creams that are designed to treat the condition. Exfoliation can be used as a treatment to remove and prevent the build up of dead skin cells. And light therapy is being used more and more to treat acne. It is important to consult a dermatologist in order to determine the best course of treatment and learn the best regimen of acne skin care to carry out.
