With Board Dues approaching agents face the harsh reality of renewing.
Each month Agents from Broward County,Florida meet to discuss current issues which concern our profession.
The "Hot Topic" last night was "Board Dues". Apparently, many agents from around South Florida will not be renewing their Board Dues. Some complain the Board refuses to work with agents, leaving them no choice but not to renew. Others, simply haven`t done well this year and can`t justify the cost of joining.
It`s clear our local Boards throughout the state need to addressing these issues, yet, many seem indifferent to Realtors concerns or requests.
In Ocala,Florida the Board has acknowledged this situation and have begin to address this issue. They are the minority.
In South Florida the Boards seem to be taking a "Wait and See" approach and will probably make adjustments, once they`re able to determine how many members renew.
Real Estate Boards throughout the country should start to offer monthly fee`s or prorate fee`s for it`s members, to accommodate them during difficult times.
From our discussion I walked away with the feeling many experienced agents will seek alternatives to joining the Board.
This is the first time in 10 years I`ve heard so many Realtors question the "Function of the Board".
