Scratchers, Peelers, what the heck are those? Thats what I wondered the first time I heard of them.
Peelers are fundraising cards that provide discounts at local businesses. The wallet-size cards feature mini coupons that the business peels off when they are redeemed. Peeler cards can offer discounts from just one merchant or they can offer discounts from a variety of local merchants. Pizza peelers are available from just about every national pizza franchise, so you should be able to sell pizza peelers in your community quite easily. Most pizza peelers sell for $10.00 with your organization keeping $5.00 or 50 percent of the profit.
Sometimes your organization can make more than a 50 percent profit if you sell a very large quanitity of peelers, such as over 500. The discount offers are usually for a buy one pizza and get one free. Some other popular peelers offer discounts on Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Midas Muffler services, McDonalds, and Subway, just to name a few.
Scratch cards, also known as "skratchers" are slightly different than peelers. Each seller in your organization starts with just one scratch card. They ask the donor to scratch off a spot on the card and donate the amount that is revealed to the organization. The amount can be anywhere from fifty cents to three dollars. As a thank you, the donor receives a sheet of discount coupons from local businesses, or receives a small prize. One scratch card is usually worth $100.00 with your organization keeping $80.00 to $90.00.
There are several a-peelingadvantages to fundraising with peelers and scratchers. They dont take up much space and your organization doesnt have to store, refrigerate or deliver them. They are inexpensive and the profit margin is 50 percent to 90 percent. Most have an expiration date of one year to three years. And, you can usually return the unsold cards.
You can find companies that distribute peelers and scratchers by doing a search on the internet. So, get busy scratching or peeling with your next fundraiser!
