If you run an internet marketing business you will want people to know about you. One of the most powerful sources of business is word of mouth, and in order for people to begin talking about you and/or your business you must provide them with value.

One of the ways to become known online and meet other internet marketers is to join forums. Joining a forum can also help to increase the traffic to your site.

When you join a forum it is never a good idea to make your first or second post one about your business opportunity. People need to begin to know, like and trust you. A better way is to help people by answering questions they have. If you know the answer to their questions, or you can tell them about a resource that will save them money/help them then you will begin to gain the reputation of an expert in your field.

It is important that you set your profile up as soon as you join a forum because usually you have the opportunity to include your website, and people will be naturally curious and go and take a look.

Your forum signature is the most important advertising tool you have! Include your signature in your main profile, so that every time you write a post it automatically appears. Some text pointing people to your website is the best thing to include in your signature.

Also, if the forum is an open one picked up by the search enginges, the more you post the more you will appear on search engines too.

I tend to visit forums because I enjoy taking part in them (although I can easily spend all day just chatting in forums!). Always remember to be genuine, maybe it's just me but I hate people who promise things they can’t deliver on.

You must regulate your time on the forums you join and include them in your overall plan for the day because otherwise you will find yourself spending a whole day doing nothing but answering posts and reading responses to other posts! Not the best way to spend your day.
