My last post was about how nonprofit organizations that are involved in animal welfare can raise money by participating in the Pet Nutrition Products (PNP) Charity Program. The PNP Charity Program was most suited to organizations devoted dogs and cats because PNP is a manufacturer and retailer of health-related products for dogs and cats.
I have found another fundraising opportunity with CheapPetStore.com, an online retailer that carries products not only for dogs and cats, but also fish, birds, horses, small mammals and reptiles. In addition to having an affiliate program for nonprofits your organization can it also have your own cobranded pet store.
Your organization can apply to become an affiliate of CheapPetStore.com by filling out an application online. There is no cost and you do not have to provide proof of your nonprofit status. When you are approved as an affiliate you will put a link or banner on your website for CheapPetStore.com and ask your members and supporters to buy their pet supplies online through your link. You will then earn commission of 10% on the purchases made by your supporters.
Your club or organization can also have your own pet store if you chose the co branded option. There is also no cost to have your own pet store. CheapPetStore.com will set you up with a storefront that you integrate into your existing website. You will be able to have your own header and footer on the store and feature products that are relevant to your organization. For example, you can choose to offer only cat products on the front page of your store if that is what your organization of club is devoted to.
When you are an affiliate or have a co branded store, CheapPetStore.com can also provide you with a monthly newsletter for that your organization can email to your supporters or they will distribute it for you.
I recommend your pet-related club or organization look into this fundraising opportunity. I particularly recommend the co branded store because I think you could raise more money that way. If you are confused about what a co-branded store is CheapPetStore.com has a very extensive FAQ section that you should read to help you decided if that is the way to go for your organization.
