In my previous post I wrote about how nonprofit organizations can do fundraising online by building a Squidoo.com lens. I would like to ask all WorldVillage Bloggers and WorldVillage Blog readers to help out any cause or charity you feel touches or inspires you and build your own lens on Squidoo.com. Ask your friends to make a lens too.

I am of the opinion that there are more internet marketers using Squidoo lenses than there are charities and nonprofit organizations. That is because a Squidoo lens is a good way to build links and bring traffic to a website. I hope that more individuals and nonprofit organizations find out about Squidoo.com and start using it for charitable purposes.

To review: A Squidoo lens is a webpage on Squidoo.com that is built to serve as a guide on a specific topic. The page contains relevant information about the topic and links to other places on the internet where more information can be found.

One of the original purposes of Squidoo.com, according to founder Seth Godin, was to provide a way for nonprofit organizations and charities to spread awareness of their cause and raise some money over the internet.

Each lens automatically has Google advertisements placed on it. Every lens receives a share of the advertising revenue earned by the entire Squidoo network... Another way to earn money is to sell items as an affiliate of Amazon, eBay, or Cafe Press.

In addition to creating a lens, nonprofit organizations may register and be added to the Squidoo database of charities. Once an organization is registered, other lensmasters can then choose to donate their earnings to your account, thereby adding another way for your organization to raise money

As I wrote previously, I have made some Squidoo lenses to help raise awareness and benefit two worthy causes.

I would also like to invite everyone to participate in a Squidoo lens project to raise awareness for Congenital Heart Disease and to participate in A Day For Hearts on February 14th. This project was started by Dr. Mani Sivasubramanian, Dr. Mani is not only a pediatric heart surgeon but also a well-known internet marketer. I have written about him before here and have participated in his blogathons to raise money to fund heart operations.

How many surgeons have to go on the internet to raise the money needed to save the lives of children? Dr. Mani does this because he lives in India and if he didnt raise the money himself he wouldnt be able to perform his surgeries.
