On Saturday October 13th Macy's Department stores will be holding their annual Shop for a Cause event. Last year over $9,000,000 was raised for charities across America in one day of shopping.
If there is a Macy's in your town you may want to look into this fundraising opportunity. Any organization, that is a nonprofit, with 501(c)(3) status, can apply to participate in the program.
The way it works is - your group sells Macy's shopping passes in advance for $5.00 each. The passes are used on October 13th to shop at Macy's and save up to 20% on all store purchases. Your organization gets to keep 100 percent of the $5.00 sales price of the shopping pass. So, you will raise at least $500 for your organization with this fundraiser.
You can download an application to participate online at www.macys.com/charity and mail it to your local Macy's. The manager of the local Macy's will then contact you and give you the tickets to sell. Your organization must be able to sell one hundred passes to people in your community. If your oganization can't sell that many passes, you can split the 100 passes with another organization and have them to help you sell them.
There are about two months to go until October 13th. Macy's is already starting to advertise this program online and in newspapers. Fall is a busy time for
fundraising. If your organization is looking for something different to sell this fall I suggest checking out the Macy's Shop for a Cause fundraiser.
