Basically a digital camera is a device use to capture pictures without the use of film. With numerous functions they do not need the complicated mechanical components of a standard film camera. With large megapixel models, image storage is another issue to look out for and a storage card will be necessary. With higher resolution models now the norm, forget anything lower than 1GB of storage space if you want to save the image at the highest resolution.
If you are going to be taking your camera everywhere, choose a handy and portable model. Professional photographers may need heavy, bulky equipment but there is no requirement for a keen amateur to do so! There has only been room for a few basic hints and tips here but they should help with your choice of camera. The digital camera has reinvented photography for the masses and this is a trend that looks set to continue.
