They lose calculators, stereos, cameras, personal computers, books, furniture, clothes, and other personal items by fire, theft, water, or vandalism. Because most students stay in dormitories or share rooms with other students, the risk of personal property loss or damage is greater. Having personal property insurance can protect students from the costs of having to replace the lost or damaged item.

When a person fails to take out life insurance, the loved ones often endure unwanted stress on top of the stress of burial. Life insurance is not only available to cover death; rather the policy will protect you against loss and chronic illnesses. If you own a home, life insurance will cover your mortgage payments in some events.

Life Assurance and Life Insurance

Posted on Oct 25, 2006 at 08:10 PM by Johnson | Comments (1)

Life insurance has no ‘investment value’ while Life Assurance is strictly for investment purposes only in most instances. Most life insurance policies provide a measure of ‘security’ and hope to policyholders for the length of the term. However, the policy must be active when the policyholder dies; otherwise, there is no coverage available. If the policyholder has an active policy and finds that he is ill, expected to live a short time, then the policyholder will have the coverage he needs. On the other hand, if the policyholder meets the term of life coverage and extends to another year, then the policy is often outdated. Thus, the life insurance coverage plans are operable when the policyholder has a ‘claim.’

Home Insurance Reputations

The reputation of home insurance companies’ is important, since if you are searching for insurance and purchase a policy from an unknown source you may be paying for air.
It is important to know what you are getting when making purchases. Home insurance companies’ that have a good reputation and a outstanding arrangement with current ‘economic solidity’ and ‘principles’ can offer lower premiums and better rates on home insurance. The companies’ that have good standings in society are often reliable when claims are submitted. Few companies will take your money and when you file a claim, they often find every excuse to avoid reimbursements. On the other hand, quality services will provide fast payouts, and help is available around the clock in the event you need immediate help. Insurance companies that offer quality service present a readily able agent to their policyholders. The service is often bulletproof with friendly personnel ready to lend a hand when policyholders are in need. Policyholders rarely need to ask questions, since quality insurance agents will fill the customer in on all details upfront. It makes sense to look for good services, since no one likes to wait. If you land a bad service provider you may wait months to get your claims refilled, and that is if they fulfill the claims.

Health Insurance Covering Families in Michigan

UNICARE health insurance provides individuals and families low rate coverage and comprehensive plans. Few of the UNICARE policies have low cost plans, with “$2,000” yearly deductibles for each family member, thus offering the maximum payout on claims. The plan may offer waivers on deductibles to family members that do not meet the limited doctor visits. In other words, the policy may stipulate that each family member is permitted two doctor visits in 12 months, and if the policyholder does not meet the limits then deductibles may be waived. The plans offer a “$30” Co-payment per member. Be careful, since some plans charge 100 percent on three or more visits to the doctor. The plan may have low pricing with maximum deductibles of “$5000,” however, the doctor limits are increased. This means the higher the deductible the more visits you can spare, with waiver on deductibles and “$30” Co-payments. There may also be co-payments on prescription drugs, usually around $10 per prescription on generic brands.

There are different types of insurance coverage available, thus the best question to ask when applying for insurance, is which policy is available to me. In the beginning of the 19th century laws were passed stating that anyone driver a motor vehicle is by law obligated to have a measure of coverage. The drive can take out full coverage, or else ‘third-party” coverage, which will protect them in the event an accident occurs. The policy will keep you out of the arms of the law even if you are pulled over for a traffic violation, by protecting you from getting citations, fines, jail, or towed vehicle for no proof.

Health Insurance - A Good Idea to Protect Your Health and Wealth

These days, with the costs associated with medical treatment are so high, it is very important for people to have a good, affordable health insurance plan to ensure that they will be able to afford any medical aid they may need. You can get a health insurance quote at no cost or obligation very easily on the internet. It's a good idea, too, because even in good health, sickness and injury can come to anyone unexpectedly. Have you ever known sickness or injury to come at a convenient time? A short ride in an ambulance, a stay in the hospital or an outpatient surgical procedure can easily destroy the financial health of all but the wealthier members of society in in a very short time.

Health insurance works like most other kinds of insurance. Policyholders pay an ongoing premium and are then eligible to have the costs of certain agreed upon medical treatments covered by the health insurance company - if they are necessary to be performed. Most medical insurance companies demand that their policyholders have a primary care physician, or PCP, because it is this physician that will determine if the patient needs treatment. This has become an important societal issue in many countries, especially the United States, because health insurance companies can exert tremendous pressure on a primary care physician which can often influence his or her ability to provide effective care.

At the end of the term, you need to take a new term life insurance policy. Sexual Harassment Insurance For Businesses

Posted on Feb 6, 2006 at 10:31 AM by Scott Simmonds | Comments (0)

The need for insurance against claims of harassment, discrimination and other employment related practices issues has been well discussed. Employers are subject to legal action when they are accused by employees (or employment applicants) of harassment, discrimination and other wrongful employment acts.

Frankly, Employment Related Practices Insurance does a good job for most businesses.

How about the legal ramifications of an employee who is accused of harassing a customer or an employee of a customer? What insurance policy can help you then?

Some employment practices liability insurance companies are offering coverage for such third-party exposures. Coverage is usually offered at an additional premium.

There are risk management angles to this as well. Review your employee handbook. Consider adding a harassment prohibition for harassment of third parties. Having a specific policy against such may help you in legal action. Include third party harassment in your employee training too.

Replace rubber washing machine hoses with metal reinforced hoses. Check them at least twice a year for bulging. Replace even metal hoses every five years.

Insurance Is Not Gambling

Posted on Nov 20, 2005 at 11:32 AM by Scott Simmonds | Comments (8)

In my years of working with insurance I have had countless people tell me that buying insurance is nothing more than gambling. Not true. Gambling creates risk, while insurance addresses and protects you from risk. When you gamble, you can finish in one of three places – a winner, a looser, or breakeven. You can also choose not to play.
Insurance responds to risk you already face. You own a building, so you want to be sure it’s still there tomorrow. The next day the building is either there, or it’s not. Insurance, unlike gambling, does not create risk.

Gambling Creates Risk
InsuranceResponds to Existing Risk
Gambling Outcomes: Gain, Loss, or Stay Even
Insurance Outcomes: No Loss or Loss

Insurance passes the risk of loss from you to the insurance company. That’s why “self-insurance” is a misnomer. You either buy insurance, or you don’t. If you don’t buy insurance you are funding the risk yourself. This is also known as retention. You retain the risk.

First, life insurance is for the living. You buy life insurance because someone depends on the money you earn or the contribution you make. A bread winner buys life insurance because her family depends on her income. If she dies, the family needs go on. Perhaps the money will be used for a mortgage payment, funding your kid’s college education, or just the expenses of day to day living. A business owner buys life insurance on his partner, allowing for cash to hire someone to help out. Perhaps the money will be used to pay for the deceased partner’s share of the business.

Other forms of life insurance (whole life or universal life) include an accumulation of funds inside the policy called “cash value.” Term life insurance is pure insurance. The policy includes no savings account or cash value. At the end of the “term” if you haven’t died you pay another premium.
