One of the fastest growing social websites is Twitter.com. Twitter.com is free for anyone to join and allows you to create a "micro-blog" of updates on what you are doing. Twitterers tweet their posts in 140 characters or less.

Twitterers follow each other getting a large number of followers is a goal that many Twitterers have.

I have written before about online fundraising for nonprofit organizations using the social media. The term "social media" refers to websites that allow people to freely communicate and interact with each other. These are websites such as MySpace, Facebook, Squidoo and Twitter. These types of websites bring together people who share common interests and allow them to form communities online. Nonprofit organizations can use the social media for fundraising by interacting and communicating with people who support their organization.

Posted on Oct 25, 2008 at 01:54 PM by Amy Passmore | Comments (0)

economy.jpgThe current economic downturn in the United States is beginning to have a negative impact on charities and fundraising. Most charities are bracing for a drop in donations in the coming months.

According to the Association of Fundraising Professionals the last quarter of the year, from October through December, is when most charities raise between one third and one half of their yearly monetary donations.

Fair Trade Fundraisers - Win-Win Fundraising

These exports are organic products such as coffee, tea, cocoa, honey, sugar, bananas, cotton, wine, fresh fruit and flowers. Handcrafted items from artisans such as clothing, jewelry and decorative household items are also among the fair trade products.

Setting-up Christmas Wreath Fundraisers

Christmas wreath fundraisers are a great way for non-profit groups to make money. Instead of the old standby of selling cookies, candy bars, or cookie dough, selling Christmas wreaths brings in more money and helps bring a festive mood into the neighborhood at the same time.

Christmas wreath fundraisers are a great way to help out your community and help your group raise funds at the same time. Oftentimes the wreaths that are made by non-profit groups have a very competitive price and are of excellent quality. There is a special something that a Christmas wreath brings with it when you know that the purchase has helped out a group you wish to support.

Fundraising on Squidoo.com - Build a Lens on Congenital Heart Defects

In my previous post I wrote about how nonprofit organizations can do fundraising online by building a Squidoo.com lens. I would like to ask all WorldVillage Bloggers and WorldVillage Blog readers to help out any cause or charity you feel touches or inspires you and build your own lens on Squidoo.com. Ask your friends to make a lens too.

I am of the opinion that there are more internet marketers using Squidoo lenses than there are charities and nonprofit organizations. That is because a Squidoo lens is a good way to build links and bring traffic to a website. I hope that more individuals and nonprofit organizations find out about Squidoo.com and start using it for charitable purposes.

Fund Raising Online Is It Worth The Effort?

When it comes to fund raising it’s often hard to know what is the most profitable approach. Regardless what you are fundraising for it is important not to overlook the benefits of doing some online fund raising.

For starters, fundraising online allows you to reach more people. Email is a great method of contacting supporters including family and friends from different geographic locations in addition to those close at home.

Just think of how many more fundraising dollars you could bring in if you could reach potential supporters from coast to coast and not just rely on dollars collected at arms length?
