Carol Bartz, a woman Silicon Valley executive took over the helm of Yahoo and replaces Yahoo's founder Jerry Yang, who stepped down last November 18 last year.
"Let's give this company some frigging breathing room," Bartz said during a short conference call with reporters and analysts where she vowed to revive the ailing internet firm.
Yang will remain at Yahoo, reports said. The board said his "iconic stature in the industry makes him an invaluable resource."
