Most MLM newcomers have lots of questions. How do I determine if an MLM opportunity is legit? What is the best MLM opportunity? How can I quickly and efficiently build a large downline?

Traditional Internet-marketing models (e.g., affiliate marketing) can provide the answers to these questions and more. Actually, MLM and affiliate marketing are very similar. Their business models both rely on giving a commission to independent referrers for each sale they make. The main difference between affiliate marketing and MLM is that commission structures associated with MLM programs normally extend farther then first and second-tier referrals.

You can use the same evaluation questions for both affiliate programs and MLM programs. Here are the main questions to ask when evaluating these programs:

1. Does this MLM target a lucrative niche?
You MUST find products that customers want to buy or need to buy. Your products must meet the demands of a large and rich marketplace.

2. Is the commission plan great?
Both affiliate and MLM marketers need to look for great commissions. The company you decide to join must give you enough money on each level so that your downline can also earn you money.

3. Does the company support its representatives?
You don't want to struggle with your business, so find a program that offers support and gives you tools to promote your products and business opportunity.

4. Can I set up an online lead generation system?
Generating leads online is the best way to do it. Inquire whether you can market your products or business opportunity from your website by collecting leads and following up with these leads.

5. Can I use automated programs?
Remember that time is money. Aim to have a lot of both and an easy way to accomplish that is by automating your business. Customers should be able to use your website to easily order products. You should also automate the process of signing up new people in your downline in a hassle-free way.

Lastly, always keep an eye open for opportunities to increase your profits both short and long-term. By having your own targeted list of leads, you'll be able to promote new products or business opportunities to existing customers. You'll also be able to contact members of your existing program and recruit them into the downline of your new program!
