Hi WorldVillage People:

I know most folks are busy getting ready for the gift giving season. It is always such a rush to get everything done in time that we forget to enjoy the moment.

I was just wrapping a few of my gifts so that I could get them off in the mail.
Of course, I ran out of wrapping paper before I was finished and I couldn't get to the store. I decided to use some creativity and find something suitable to wrap the rest of my gifts. This is some of the wrappings I used.

Paper Wrappings

Comic Strip Newspapers
Brown Paper Super Market Bags
Wall paper

Fabric Wrappings

Metallic Lame
Velvet
Brocade
Christmas Prints
Glitzy fabrics
Kids Prints
Fleece
Lace

On various packages, I added some glitter, old jewelry, buttons, ornaments, ribbons, laces and raffia. I used yarn, twine, old wooden thread spools, silk poinsettas and other silk flowers and greenery and anything else I could find that I thought would go with the gift and the person who was getting it.

This was so much fun and they looked so cool that I rewrapped some of the Christmas paper wrapped gifts.

Next year, I already know I won't need to buy any wrapping paper or those silly pre-made bows. In fact, my packages for birthdays and holidays from now on will be part of my expression of love for the receiver because they will know that I made it especially for them.

PPS: This is my first post here. There doesn't seem to be a category for me like sewing, crafts, hobbies, etc. At least, I couldn't seem to find it. So, here I am in with the Cloth Dolls. Maybe someday, someone will find another place for me. However, "Cloth Dolls" seems like a nice, Christmasy place to be, so it is just fine.

I really love the gift-wrapping ideas! I'll try it. Thanks!
So how do you make cloth dolls? I've always wanted to make small dolls with scraps of this and that, but I guess I'm afraid to start! Can you get me started?
